The Ziegler Intermediate Core Composite is a fixed income investment management strategy that is designed to provide a total return in excess of the Barclay's Intermediate Government/Credit Index. The strategy is focused on providing a greater yield than the index by emphasizing those sectors and securities showing the most favorable option-adjusted yield spread and valuation characteristics.

The strategy manages risk through issue diversification. Portfolio duration is managed within 80% to 120% of the benchmark. Portfolios, when permitted by the client's guidelines, will utilize non-traditional fixed income securities such as preferred stocks.

The Barclay's Intermediate Gov/Credit Index is an unmanaged index of Treasury securities, other securities issued or guaranteed by the U.S. government or its agencies or instrumentalities, and investment-grade corporate debt securities, in each case with maturities of one to 10 years.
