Value Equity Income

The investment objective of the Value Equity Income Style is to provide adequate diversification across all equity market sectors, while offering above-average (equity) market yields.

It is a value-oriented strategy applying Ziegler's "bargain" ranking methodology, used in its proprietary Quantitative Research Strategy (QRS).

Methodology

  • Screen out all stocks with a market capitalization of less than $1 billion
  • Of the remaining stocks, screen out any stocks that do not pay a dividend
  • Stocks in the remaining universe are classified into one of 10 industry sectors
  • The cap-weighted proportion of the total dividend-paying, $1 billion and above market-cap stock universe is calculated for each sector
  • Stocks within each sector are ranked by their dividend yield from highest to lowest
  • Within the remaining universe, the top-yielding stocks within each sector are selected in an amount proportional to that sector's market-cap weight
  • Each member stock within each of the sectors is equal-weighted (2.00%)

Additional Quality Screens

  • Conservative dividend payout ratios
  • Cash flow analysis
  • Growth and stability of earnings and dividends are confirmed by Standard & Poor's appraisal rankings for stocks
  • Apply Ziegler's "bargain" ranking methodology, used in its proprietary Quantitative Research Strategy (QRS)
