Tom Paprocki is chief executive officer of The Ziegler Companies, Inc., investment firm that serves the fields of healthcare, senior living, religion, and education. In his role, Tom leads the operations of the firm, with an emphasis on strategy, client relationships, and strategic plan execution. He is also a member of the Ziegler Board of Directors. Ziegler has successfully provided capital, corporate finance, money management and financial advice to individuals and institutions for over a century. Prior to being named CEO, Tom was president of The Ziegler Companies, Inc. and responsible for the Capital Markets and Wealth Management businesses, as well as Marketing Communications, Services & Technology and Human Resources. He joined Ziegler in 1997 as a senior vice president, overseeing taxable bond trading activities.
Tom previously served as president of the Huntington Capital Group, a subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares. Prior to that, he was a senior vice president, head of Bond Trading and Fixed Income Research at Robert W. Baird & Co., Inc.
Tom headed Ziegler's business planning team in 2000 and has been instrumental in creating the firm's current long-term business plan. He holds a B.S. in business administration and a M.S. in economics from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI.

Don Carlson is vice chairman of Ziegler. Prior to being named vice chairman, Don was a senior managing director and the head of Ziegler Capital Markets. He also is a member of the Ziegler Company's Board of Directors and Executive Committee. In more than 30 years with Ziegler, he has been directly involved in all phases of financing healthcare organizations throughout the nation.
Throughout Don's career, he has developed many innovative financing structures for a variety of healthcare providers and has extensive experience in both the structuring and distribution of tax-exempt and taxable securities. In recent years, he has devoted much of his time to providing strategic and capital advisory services with many of his healthcare clients. His clients include both large and multi-state healthcare systems, as well as independent free-standing hospitals.
In 2002, Modern Healthcare identified Don as one of the 100 most powerful people in the healthcare industry and he was the only investment banker on the list.
Don received a B.B.A. degree in economics and finance and an M.B.A. from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Healthcare Financing Study Group and serves as chairperson of the Healthcare Finance Forum and several other industry associations. Don is a frequent speaker at many healthcare related conferences.

Mark Baumgartner joined Ziegler in 1984. For the past five years he has served as a senior managing director and chief credit officer. Prior to that, he worked as an investment banker for 25 years. His investment banking activities included mergers, acquisitions and financial advisory work, as well as tax-exempt and taxable financings on a fixed, variable or blended interest rate basis. He has senior managed more than 150 public debt offerings in excess of $5 billion. Mark has also had the opportunity to work on numerous strategic advisory transactions for healthcare providers involved in merging, acquiring or partnering with other healthcare entities.
In addition to working on traditional underwritings, Mark is responsible for Ziegler’s healthcare real estate team, which purchases medical office buildings, ambulatory surgery centers and diagnostic facilities across the United States.
Mark has a B.B.A. in finance from the University of Notre Dame. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and has authored many articles on healthcare related topics. Mark has lectured to a variety of audiences including the Medical Group Management Association and Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Gary Engle joined Ziegler in 1999 bringing with him a strong background in finance, accounting, investment banking, asset management, and benefits administration. In his role, he is responsible for Human Resources, Information Technology, and Research.
Prior to joining Ziegler, Gary was the Chief Financial Officer of Trust and Investments at Firstar Corp. in Milwaukee. Before that he spent 17 years with Robert W. Baird & Co., where he garnered broad experience serving as the director of fixed-income research and as CFO. Gary began his career as a staff accountant at Arthur Andersen.
Gary holds an M.B.A from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has been teaching finance, accounting and economics courses at the University of Wisconsin throughout most of his career.

Dan Hermann joined Ziegler in 1987 and during his tenure has become a leading investment banker in the senior living industry. He has far-ranging experience in the management, structuring and financial analysis of every type of senior living financing. Dan is directly responsible for managing Ziegler’s Investment Banking activities.
In his 25 years with Ziegler Dan has structured and managed more than 185 senior living financings exceeding $5 billion. He has utilized his expertise to create financing structures for a large clientele — from stand-alone nursing homes to multi-facility, multi-state systems, including start-up campuses and campuses undergoing major renovation projects. His particular emphasis in recent years has been to provide resources for key decision-makers in an organization to effectuate sound financial and strategic planning initiatives. To that end, Dan has assisted numerous multi-facility systems in their corporate planning efforts. When appropriate, he assists these and other organizations in the structuring of their financings and has developed financing alternatives using the broadest range of financing structures available to maximize yields and flexibility for his clients: traditional fixed rate issues, credit enhanced variable rate structures, extendable rate unenhanced issues, derivative applications, and off-balance sheet financings. Prior to joining Ziegler, he worked for a “Big Four” public accounting firm.
Dan received a B.S. in finance and accounting from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois, and an M.B.A. with an emphasis in health services management from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He is a Certified Public Accountant and frequent lecturer.
In October 2005, Dan was named to the Contemporary Long Term Care 2005 CLTC Power & Influence Top 25 listing, the magazine’s selection of today’s decision makers “who hold the reins and help shape the path” for senior living. He has lectured at Harvard and internationally on senior living finance (its historical trends, strategic positioning issues, growth potential and other), served as a member of the CARF-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission’s Financial Advisory Panel.

Kevin Strom joined the sales and trading team at Ziegler in 2007. He is a senior managing director and head of capital markets. He is responsible for the management and development of large institutional relationships for Ziegler, in both primary and secondary markets. He is also the head of trading, underwriting, and national sales manager of Ziegler Capital Markets municipal bond sales force.
Prior to joining Ziegler, Kevin worked for 11 years at RBC Capital Markets in Chicago as national sales manager and managing director early on and as a 1st vice president and senior salesperson for the last nine years. Before joining RBC, he served as vice president of institutional sales at ABN/AMRO LaSalle Capital Markets and Griffin, Kubik, Stephens & Thompson in Chicago, where he was instrumental in building sales and distribution of municipal and taxable municipal debt. Kevin has been an active participant in the fixed income marketplace for 23 years.
Kevin holds a B.S. in political science from Wheaton College. He has also served on selected boards of the Covenant Retirement Communities in the western suburbs of Chicago.

Robert (Bob) Moats joined Ziegler in 2014. As a senior managing director and Head of Ziegler Wealth Management, he sits on the firm’s Executive Committee. In his role, Bob is responsible for leading the growth and development of the wealth management division as well as overseeing the branch operations nationwide. Bringing over 30 years of experience to the firm, Bob successfully guides advisors to achieve and surpass their goals by understanding the very essence of being a financial advisor and branch manager throughout his own career.
Prior to joining Ziegler, Bob was an executive director and complex branch manager at Morgan Stanley, where he was responsible for developing and implementing the sales strategy for over 170 financial advisors. Bob oversaw diverse business models including stock plan services, corporate retirement plans, private wealth management, futures and retirement planning.
Throughout his 30-year career with Morgan Stanley and its predecessor firms, Bob held various positions ranging from financial advisor to national training officer, where he trained and coached over 2,000 financial advisors, to branch manager positions across the Midwest.
Bob began his career as a financial advisor in Omaha, NE, where he developed and managed a book of business with an emphasis on a diversified population of investors — a strategy that he has carried through his management and leadership career.
Bob holds the Series 7, 9, 10, 63 and 65 licenses.

Angelique David joined Ziegler in 2007 as assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary. In November 2010, she was named senior managing director, general counsel and corporate secretary. Angelique manages the firm's legal and compliance departments. She is responsible for all legal and regulatory affairs, ethics and compliance programs, and corporate governance activities. Angelique is also responsible for managing the corporate secretary function and working with the board of directors and senior management across a number of areas, including governance and corporate development.
Prior to joining Ziegler, Angelique was a senior associate in the corporate department at Locke Lord Bissell and Liddell, LLP. While at Locke Lord, her practice focused on investment management, investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and general corporate law. Angelique regularly advised broker dealers and investment advisors regarding compliance with the broker-dealer and investment adviser laws, rules and regulations under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940. She also has extensive experience representing buyers and sellers in merger and acquisition transactions. In addition, she has experience counseling clients on a range of insurance regulatory matters. Further, at Locke Lord, Angelique was a contributing author of the firm’s FUNDamentals(TM) Investment Management Client Alert Series, which is prepared for investment advisers, fund managers and private investment companies.
Angelique is a member of the Cook County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is on the Board of Directors of the Midwest Minority In-House Counsel Group. Angelique has also held positions on the Board of Directors of The Cathedral Shelter and Board of Directors of the Public Interest Law Initiative. She has also served as a contributing writer and member of the Advisory Board of the magazine, Girlfriends Health Guide for Women of Color.
Angelique obtained her B.A. from Case Western Reserve University magna cum laude and is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Law.

James (Jim) Bushman joined Ziegler in October 1983. In 2011 he was promoted to Ziegler's Chief Compliance Officer. Jim is responsible for firm-wide compliance oversight and for the development and implementation of an audit and monitoring program to ensure compliance with applicable laws/regulations. Additionally, he works closely with the businesses to develop policies and procedures designed to prevent and detect unlawful activity, while supporting the needs of business.
Jim has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry in internal audit, employee benefits, retail sales administration, and brokerage and trading operations, having held various management positions within Ziegler. He is focused on providing business units with regulatory guidance and in maintaining a client-centric, proactive, risk management program.
Jim is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he majored in accounting. He is a CPA and holds various securities licenses including the Series 7, 24, 53, 79, and 99. Jim is a member of the Security Industry Financial Market Association’s Compliance and Legal Division, AICPA, WICPA, and various Compliance networking groups in the Midwest.

Dave Kolzow joined Ziegler in 1995. During his tenure at Ziegler, he has held many senior positions including his current role as director and chief administrative officer of the investment banking team. Previously, Dave was senior vice president of Ziegler's capital markets team and responsible for managing all financial and operational activities. He has also served as vice president and controller of Ziegler securities division and responsible for managing the operations and clearing service activities for the institutional sales and trading and investment banking units.
Prior to joining Ziegler, Dave was vice president of Old Kent Bank Chicago (now Fifth Third Bank) fixed income bond department heading up the bond operations, custody services, and investment banking portfolio management units.
Dave holds an B.S. in finance from Northern Illinois University.

Christine McCarty joined Ziegler in 2007. As chief marketing officer, Christine is responsible for developing marketing strategy including: advertising, brand management, promotions, online marketing, social media, PR and internal communications. In addition, she manages the office services team and sits on the operating and IT governance committees.
Prior to joining Ziegler, Christine was an assistant vice president in marketing and communications at Citi. In her 10 years at Citi, she managed and coordinated several marketing campaigns for internal and external purposes. Christine was one of four producers who managed Citi’s live stream television program that educated financial advisors on market trends and best practices. In addition, she oversaw the creation of educational and informative videos for employees and their clients.
Christine is a graduate of Bucknell University. She has won first place at the Aurora Film Awards and third place at the International Film/Video Festival for her video work at Citi. She holds a security license designation of the Series 7.

Charles O’Meara joined Ziegler in 1993. He has served as senior managing director of Ziegler Private Equity since 2006. In this capacity, he is responsible for the oversight and development of the firm’s venture capital strategy, which focuses on the healthcare industry. Prior to this position, Charles was general counsel and corporate secretary of Ziegler and its subsidiaries from 1993 to 2006. He also served as the firm’s risk management officer from 1999 to 2005. In these capacities, he supervised the legal and compliance support functions for substantially all business units of the firm, and oversaw the firm’s risk management processes.
Throughout his tenure at Ziegler, Charles has participated as a member of the Business Acceptance Committee, which provides peer review of substantially all of the firm’s investment banking activity. In 2005 and 2006, Charles was instrumental in forming Ziegler Meditech Equity Partners, LP, a $52 million venture capital fund investing globally in mid- to late-stage companies with new medical device technologies. In 2008, he was responsible for the formation of Ziegler HealthVest Partners, LP, a venture capital fund focusing on the healthcare services industry. Charles currently serves as a director of Masterpiece Living LLC, Medmarketplace.com, Orthosensor, and Ridgestone Financial Services.
Charles received an Artium Baccalaureats degree from the University of Notre Dame and his Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School.

Jeffrey (Jeff ) Vredenbregt joined Ziegler in 1987. He is a managing director and chief financial officer of The Ziegler Companies, Inc (“Ziegler”). Jeff oversees financial accounting, external financial reporting, and treasury functions for Ziegler and related private equity entities. He is the FINRA Financial and Operations Principal for Ziegler’s broker-dealer subsidiary, B. C. Ziegler and Company.
Prior to joining Ziegler, Jeff was in public accounting at Arthur Andersen LLP. He joined Ziegler as corporate controller and has been promoted and appointed to various officer positions within Ziegler and its subsidiaries. In 2000 Jeff was appointed chief financial officer of Ziegler’s largest subsidiary, B.C. Ziegler and Company and in 2004 he was appointed chief financial officer for The Ziegler Companies, Inc.
Jeff received a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He is a member of both the American and Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.[back to top]
