    11/13/2009 After his stunning victory at Inchon in September 1950, General Douglas MacArthur made an ill-advised push to win the Korean War by Christmas. He sent his forces north to the Yalu River on the Chinese border to "close the vise" on the North Korean army. MacArthur's attack provoked the Chinese to send 300,000 troops across the Yalu. This massive force routed McArthur's Army and threatened "the complete destruction" of his command.
